Spring into History

Killawog Baptist Church has a long and exciting history. The church began in October of 1841 in the then named Union Village. Elder A.B. Jones was the first pastor. It was not long before the church sensed a need to expand the gospel in our area and let go of some of its member to form a Baptist church in Center lisle. 1851 saw another mission expansion as Killawog voted to help start the Marathon Baptist Church. The church took on its present name in 1864 when the post office took the name of Killawog. In 1896 the church again extended its influence by beginning a church in Hunts Corners. The building as it stands today was finished in 1953 when  a basement was added. All work was done by its members. While our membership has remained small this was due in part to constantly sending out its members for the purpose of extending the gospel outreach. Killawog Baptist Church remains committed to spreading the gospel. We will continue to send members into the mission field of the world even if it means the eventual closing of our work here. even as we obey our Lord's command Mr 16:15 "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
